A high-level investigation committee, appointed by President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Sr., is currently meeting with the management of the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) to address the recent power outage incident at Roberts International Airport.

The committee, led by National Security Advisor to the President, Kofi Woods, is tasked with investigating the situation and working closely with LAA to develop long-term solutions to ensure a stable and reliable power supply at the airport.

The ongoing meeting comes in the wake of the recent power outage that temporarily disrupted operations at the airport, which was caused by a shock that affected the transmitter line and damaged the automatic switch.

The committee is examining the issue and is expected to provide recommendations to prevent such incidents in the future.

This meeting is part of the committee’s mandate to thoroughly investigate the power crisis and present a detailed report and plan of action to President Boakai.

The LAA, alongside the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), previously expressed its commitment to resolving the power supply issue during a Senate Joint Committee on Hydrocarbons, Energy, and Environment hearing on April 2, 2025.

Immediate efforts are already underway to address the technical damage caused by the power outage.

The Liberia Airport Authority is collaborating closely with the investigation committee to identify and implement long-term solutions to improve the power infrastructure at Roberts International Airport and to ensure smooth, uninterrupted operations moving forward.
