Yekepa, Nimba County – Over 200 young Liberians have officially joined the workforce of ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) after completing their training at the company’s Training Academy. The company held a recognition program for them a few days ago, celebrating the achievement in the mining town of Yekepa.

The new employees, made up of 128 graduates from the AML Training Academy and 108 process operators, are now full staff of the company. This means they will begin earning steady income, support their families, and contribute to the country’s development.

Speaking at the event, some of the new employees expressed joy and said the job gives them hope for a better future. “We thank ArcelorMittal for the opportunity. Now we can stand on our own, help our families, and live better lives,” one of the graduates said.

Company officials said the move is part of AML’s effort to invest in Liberian talent and build a strong workforce. They added that giving young people real skills and permanent jobs is important for the growth of the country.

The Training Academy in Yekepa has been a place where young Liberians learn hands-on skills in different areas of the mining industry. Many of the trainees come from surrounding communities and have been in the program for over a year.

During the ceremony, AML encouraged the new workers to stay focused and take their roles seriously. They were reminded that the country depends on people like them to move forward.

ArcelorMittal Liberia has been operating in the country for years and remains one of the biggest private employers. With this new batch of employees, the company hopes to boost production while also helping to tackle the issue of youth unemployment.

The event ended with smiles, music, and a strong message: Liberians can build Liberia, if given the chance.
