Paynesville, Liberia – March 24, 2025

Liberia’s Cultural Ambassador, Kerkula Kamara, has reaffirmed his unwavering support for the Unity Party-led government, dismissing media reports suggesting his resignation. Speaking over the weekend in Paynesville, Kamara described the allegations as unfounded, baseless, and misleading, aimed at undermining his commitment to promoting Liberia’s rich cultural heritage.

“There is no truth to these reports. I remain fully dedicated to my role as Cultural Ambassador and to supporting the Unity Party-led government under Pres. Boakai as an effort in fostering national unity through culture,” Kamara stated.

He further emphasized his continued collaboration with the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism to advance cultural programs and preserve Liberia’s traditions.

“Since my appointment, I have enjoyed a warm, cordial, and collaborative relationship with Pres. Boakai and his office. We have met on numerous occasions to discuss strategies advancing arts and culture in Liberia, and I had the privileged honor of spending a whole week with the President during the festive season in Foya, Lofa County,” Amb. Kamara asserted.

Though critics have criticized the lack of governmental cooperation and the interpersonal relationship between Amb. Kamara and his predecessor, Julie Endee, especially during these times of Liberia’s cultural representation for Expo 2025, this concern remains unaddressed. Amb. Kamara seemed passionate in commenting on his cooperation with His Excellency President Joseph Nuymah Boakai, while others feel the former Cultural Ambassador and the current Cultural Ambassador must work interchangeably under a coordinated function in the best interest of the state.

It appears to be putting pressure on Amb. Kamara for his silence following media allegations about his resignation, demanding him to respond and justify his office’s relationship with the current establishment, as others believe he is only occupying the title while his predecessor is the one doing his job.

The clarification follows recent media reports speculating about Kamara’s resignation from his position as Liberia’s Cultural Ambassador. However, he assured the public that he remains steadfast in his duties and aligned with the President’s ARREST vision for cultural and artistic development.

He believes the unrealistic resignation report is an attempt to distract him from his responsibility to shape and uplift Liberia’s cultural heritage and arts to the world. “Those who know me know that I take my national duty seriously, and I accepted this role not for personal gain but to serve the people of Liberia by using arts and culture as a force for national healing, pride, and development,” he added.

Meanwhile, in a stronger tone, Amb. Kamara denounced the false claims in the Liberian media, calling on all journalists, media institutions, and social media users to uphold professionalism by counter-verifying information before publication. At the same time, he urged all Liberians to support national development efforts and remain focused on preserving the country’s cultural identity.
