One of the most prominent vanguards and cutting-edge thinkers in the history of the progressive African revolution, Dr. HB, was born today, and the entire pantheon is celebrating his birth. His life epitomises the proletarian struggle against the bourgeois tyranny of the True Whig Party’s 133-year autocracy.

Dr. HB’s revolutionary praxis has always been grounded in the immutable laws of historical materialism. He understood that the liberation of the Liberian masses required the overthrow of an entrenched then-ruling class and the dismantling of their reactionary superstructure in the 70s.

In the face of the True Whig Party’s 133-year dynasty, Dr. HB and his contemporaries waged sustained struggles to awaken the class consciousness of the proletariat or the reserved army of labourers as Karl Marx would term them. They enlightened the path toward a new mode of production, one that promises the end of alienation and the realisation of true democracy. Their revolutionary zeal culminated in the dethronement of the True Whig Party, a monumental victory that heralded the dawn of a new era for Liberia.

In honour of this great man and iconic figure in the struggle, I join all and sundry in celebrating his glorious natality, and also for his strategic acumen and theoretical rigour that have provided us – as young activists – with a blueprint for building a society unencumbered by the contradictions of capitalist exploitation.

Drawing intestinal courage and moral fortitude from Dr. HB’s legacy of extraordinary selflessness and enduring humility, we young budding revolutionaries and scholars continue our struggle for a just and equitable society.
All struggles against imperialism and for a socialist future carry the revolutionary spirit of Dr. HB.

The promise to continue his work, strengthen ties to the proletariat revolution, and create a society in which the people own the means of production is the most priceless present his mentees can give him today. Long live the memory of Dr. HB! Long live the socialist revolution! Forward to victory, comrades!
